Chris Matthew Lies about Rural Voters

This month, liberal Chris Matthews was on MSNBC and said the following about rural American voters:

“…anyone who wants to have civil rights in the future must to get out the vote to counter “rural people” whom he described as mentally unsound cultists.

On … Morning Joe on MSNBC, host Joe Scarborough first attacked rural voters when prompting Claire McCaskill on the subject of the Iowa caucuses, saying anyone who doesn’t want to vote for Donald Trump will be intimidated into not casting a ballot. [Chuck’s note:  Chris and Claire know all too well about intimidating voters. Ask them why they don’t support secret balloting for union elections.]

McCaskill agreed, saying that in rural areas, “if you are not on Donald Trump’s bandwagon, if you’re not a member of the cult, then you just stay quiet.” [Chuck’s note: This is not a problem in corporate America or universities who have a high intolerance of anything but progressive opinions?]

But with a caucus, “you can’t do that,” said McCaskill. “Everybody sees which which, which corner of the room you go to, uh, who you are joining.”

As the conversation continued, co-host Mika Brzezinksi asked Matthews about Iowa and New Hampshire, and he repeated the “cult” framing from McCaskill as well as Scarborough’s singling out rural voters, painting them as anti-Constitution, anti-civil rights bad guys with mental problems.”

Let us look at the facts. You can make your own determination who is the cult-like demographic and who is not. Urban or rural?

  •  “Many voters in cities tend to favor Democrats, and those in rural areas tend to favor Republicans. That was the case again in 2020 among voters of all ages: urban voters supported Biden, 66% to 33%, and rural/small town voters supported Trump, 60% to 38%. (Suburban voters were more evenly split but still favored Biden: 54% to 44%.)”.  So who is more cultish?  Urban or rural voters?

  • “Like older voters, youth in rural areas also preferred Trump to Biden, but by a much narrower margin. Young voters in urban areas backed Biden, 74% to 24%, youth in suburban areas by 65% to 32%, and youth in rural/small towns supported Trump, 50% to 47%.”  Again, who is more cultish?  Urban or rural youth voters?

  • According to Jonathan Rodden, political scientist and author, “When you get out into rural America, it’s actually a lot more heterogeneous than people imagine it to be.” A Washington Post analysis of detailed election results shows that more complicated reality. Yes, voters in America’s small towns favored President Donald Trump in 2020, but they gave Trump roughly 61 percent of their votes, compared with voters in the most rural areas who backed him with 73 percent.

  • In the 2020 election, “Black voters remained overwhelmingly loyal to the Democratic Party, voting 92%-8% for Biden.”

  • You can learn more about white voter turnout here.

  • You want to talk cultish behavior, in 2020, Philadelphia had its highest voter turnout since 1984. More than 749,000 voters cast ballots in Philadelphia, out of 1.1 million registered voters in the city. The 68% turnout was the highest in decades, according to one of the three city commissioners. The final uncertified Philly vote totals show President-elect Joe Biden received 604,175 votes, or 81% of Philly’s presidential votes, to Trump’s roughly 18% or 132,870 votes.” 81%? Is there an independent thought in Philidelphia?

  • In Washington, D.C., the 2020 presidential vote, Joe Biden received 92.15% of the vote! Most cults wish they had 92.15% of their devotees!

Pundits like Chris Matthews seek one path in elections, seek and destroy. Mock those who do not agree with their positions. They are disgusting and are responsible for the creation and endurance of MAGA energy. Just ask Hillary Clinton and her deplorable comments. These liberal propagandist never learn.
