Donald Trump “was booed repeatedly while addressing the Libertarian Party National Convention on Saturday night, with many in the crowd shouting insults and decrying him for things like his COVID-19 policies …”
The corporate press is of course taking great glee in this outcome. They have a hard time hiding their progressive, pro-Biden partisan leanings apparently.
I am sure former President Trump did not like being booed. Who would? He usually faces adoring crowds. So a shock to the system.
That being said, there are two things to take into consideration here:
First, this past week Trump did a rally in the deep blue Bronx and then gave a speech at the Libertarian Convention. If you are a Trump fan, you want him to go into unfriendly environments where he risks being booed. You only expand your voting base by trying to persuade and engage other voters aside from your partisan voting block. A few hundred votes here, a few thousand there, in a deeply divided America wins a presidency… and some Senate seats.
So Trump fans, pray he keeps going to the enemy, yet, somewhat fertile ground. Pray he keeps going to pro-booing places. He already has his base. He will not convert them all, but he will some. The “some” wins a presidency.
As the Associated Press reported, Trump’s “invitation to address the [Libertarian] convention has divided the party.” Divided means there are some votes out there right?
Second, and I cannot stop laughing while writing this, can you imagine President Biden’s handlers having him talk to an audience that isn’t full of fans, teacher unions or public union hacks?
Can you imagine the tough guy persona he would devolve into when people question him?
It would be an unmitigated disaster that social media would share for months.
So if you want Trump to win, pray he keeps going into blue and unfriendly territory. There are votes to be had.
