In a vacuum, what Israel is doing in Gaza would be an atrocity. Israel does not live in a vacuum. A lot of leftists need to realize they don’t, either. Israel’s response in Gaza is not just a reaction to the events of Oct. 7, 2023. It is a reaction to a long history that has seen Jews, Christians, Druze, Kurds, Alawites, and every other minority ethnic and religious group in the Middle East be slaughtered village by village in the name of Allah. Merciful? Allah might be, but his radicalized ideological followers are no such thing. The extermination of Jews and Christians in Muslim territory is almost complete. As is the genocide of the smaller sects. The process has accelerated greatly in the last hundred years.
It is absolutely true that the majority of Muslims are peaceful. There appears to be a growing sentiment among the Gulf State populations in favor of abandoning radical Islamist ideology. The staying power of the Iranian death cult is as much due to socialist one-party economics as religion. But these hopeful signs for the future are being undermined by Western leftist idiots. Because it’s likewise true that somewhere around a third of Muslim adherents are radicalized, and the Western left refuses to recognize the difference.
Arab states have flatly refused to take the vast majority of migrants from other Islamic countries. Nobody in the region wants a single Gazan. Does the Western left think that’s because they hate their own religion? Are they racist against their own blood? No. They’re realists who know exactly what kinds of people the West has been taking in.
Wanna talk about a prophet? Here’s the foreign minister of the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed in 2017: “There will come a day that we will see far more radical extremists and terrorists coming out of Europe because of lack of decision making, trying to be politically correct, or assuming that they know the Middle East, and they know Islam, and they know the others far better than we do. And, I’m sorry, but that’s pure ignorance.”
Keep in mind, the UAE has imported millions of workers (most of their population, in fact), but they also do so with strict controls, and aggressively stamp out any radicalization among newcomers. Humanitarians can legitimately criticize their treatment of foreign workers in many regards, but to assume the West is better equipped to address radicalization than fellow Muslims who are ready to move past the idea of Jihad is lunacy.
90 percent of Gazans thought Hamas’ murderous, rape-y rampage through a music festival and a bunch of peaceful Israeli neighborhoods was A-OK. Self-hating Western leftists can’t scramble fast enough to import them into their countries. It’s lunacy. It’s also particularly galling since leftists have controlled virtually every major Western institution for the last three generations – they hate the societies they’ve built, and can’t see through the fog of indoctrinated leftism that what they hate is their own reflection in the mirror.
Since 2005 no Israeli had stepped foot in Gaza. The so-called “blockade” that misguided leftist misanthropes blather about was never anything more than the kind of port inspection every country on earth performs: goods get let through, bombs, rockets, and mortars (hopefully) do not. Gazan independence and a flood of foreign cash didn’t solve the problem of radicalized Islam, just made it stronger and better funded.
Instead of wailing about Israeli atrocities (and notice the near total silence on that front from the leaders of the Gulf States), the world should accept the reality that what Israel is doing might be brutal, but it is entirely justified.
